Emergency Relief
When disaster strikes a community, the first hours and days decide how much is lost. Tihada Africa's emergency relief teams move quickly into flood zones, drought hit counties and communities facing disease outbreaks or conflict, to stop an emergency from becoming a lasting catastrophe.
On the ground
- Rapid needs assessment within 48 hours of a reported crisis
- Temporary shelter, clean water and hygiene kit distribution
- Emergency medical referral and first line care
- Dedicated protection measures for women, children and people with disabilities
Our interventions centre on the essentials a household needs to survive the first wave of a crisis: safe temporary shelter, nutritious food, clean water and hygiene supplies, and access to medical care. We work alongside local leadership so that aid reaches the people who need it, not just the people who are easiest to reach.
Emergencies fall hardest on those with the least power to protect themselves. We give special attention to the safety of women, children and people with disabilities during a crisis, building safeguards against harm, exploitation and neglect directly into every relief response.
